Waiting Area

The waiting area is located at the right side of the building. It consists out of two parts: one that is covered, and an extra part which is used on crowded days. The covered part has two rows that equally provide access to the attraction. At the end of these rows are two rotating gates giving access to the attraction.

While entering the waiting area visitors pass by a warning:

“Even though this mansion looks lovely and mild,
Once inside it can get a little wild,
You seem to be upside down…
Do you sense fear? Then stay on this lawn!
And parents is your child still small,
Beware it can be creepy in this hall…”

The covered part of the waiting area is equipped with a sound system that builds up the excitement and mystery regarding the attraction. The music starts haunting the visitor’s heads once they enter Villa Volta. The complete soundtrack is based on just one melody. The music induces fear with lines as “Goatriders in sight!”, “Mom, where are you?” and “Fire!”. Right before the entrance are three signs providing a short introduction to the story in three languages.

“In the eighteenth century gangs pulled trails of destruction through the Brabant’s Kempen and the farmlands of Limburg. Plundering, killing and setting fires they passed farms, inducing fear and despair to the habitants.
The named themselves ‘The Goatriders’
Thy shall presently enter the house of Hugo van de Loonsche Duynen, once the leader of these villains. His greed drove him to robbing a church- leaving him with a curse… This house, built with villain hands, became a hell for him…
Return, if thy conscious is not clear, for only he without sins, shall break this curse…”

Do you still dare to enter Hugo’s house?
